The deadline for Vote-By-Mail requests is Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 5 pm for the upcoming Town of Jay Special Election to be held on May 23, 2017.
Any registered and qualified voter may vote a vote-by-mail ballot. In addition, all members of the Armed Forces, their family members and members of the Merchant Marine and their family members, who are U.S. citizens, may vote-by-mail. When requesting a vote-by-mail ballot, you must provide your name, date of birth, residence address and the address to which the ballot should be mailed. You may request a ballot by completing the Vote-by-Mail Request Form below, emailing our office (firstname.lastname@example.org), by calling (850) 983-1900 or writing our office 6495 Caroline St. Suite F, Milton, FL 32570. Requests may also be made by the voter's immediate family or legal guardian if instructed by the voter.
One request shall be deemed sufficient to receive a vote-by-mail ballot for all elections through the end of the calendar year of the second ensuing regularly scheduled general election, or you can request specific elections, if that is all you need.
Please be aware there is a free access system available through this website where you can check the status of your vote-by-mail ballot. Just click on My Registration Status, enter the required information and it will bring you to the screen where you can check the status of your ballot.
You must read and follow all instructions included with the vote-by-mail ballot and on the vote-by-mail ballot instructions page. In the event the vote-by-mail ballot is returned with no voter signature a vote-by-mail Ballot Affidavit must be completed and returned to the Santa Rosa County Elections Office with the proper documentation no later than 5pm on the day before the election. Also if you returned your vote-by-mail ballot and received notification that you must update your signature, you may fill out the Signature Cure Affidavit by clicking here. The form must be completed and returned with the proper documentation to the Santa Rosa County Elections Office no later than 5pm on the day before the election.
A request for a vote-by-mail ballot to be mailed to a voter must be received no later than 5 p.m. on the sixth day before the election by the supervisor of elections. By delivery to a designee on election day or up to 5 days prior to the day of an election. Any elector may designate in writing a person to pick up the ballot for the elector; however, the person designated may not pick up more than two vote-by-mail ballots per election, other than the designee’s own ballot, except that additional ballots may be picked up for members of the designee’s immediate family.
